Sama Lukonde in Kisangani for PRECOP-27

The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde has just landed in Kisangani. Announced by the vice-mayor Eugénie Wandandi, the head of the Congolese government put down his suitcases in the afternoon this Sunday, September 04 in the province of Tshopo.

After landing at Bangoka airport, the Congolese Prime Minister was welcomed by Governor Nikomba Sabangu and some other provincial authorities.

This first visit by Sama Lukonde to Kisangani, since his appointment, is part of the preparatory work for COP 27. These will take place from September 5 to 7, 2022 in Yangambi, located more than 100km from Kisangani.

It should be noted that he was preceded by seven other members of the government, including Ève Bazaiba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development. This conference on climate and tropical rainforests will bring together several scientists from around the world.
